RICS is the world's leading qualification when it comes to professional standards in land, property and construction. In a world where more and more people, governments, banks and commercial organisations demand greater certainty of professional standards and ethics, attaining RICS status is the recognised mark of property professionalism.
The RICS has launched a new RICS Valuer Registration Scheme applicable in the UK which will ensure the quality of valuations, raise the credibility of valuers and provide clients with a clearly identifiable designation for practitioners.
Members wishing to continue to undertake valuations had to register on the scheme by 1st April 2011, and now in the UK from 1st October 2011 it is mandatory that only Registered Valuers under the scheme can carry out valuations. The scheme is voluntary from this date in the rest of Europe.
Mason Owen are pleased to advise that 18 of its surveyors have been approved and accepted as RICS Registered Valuers, and the approval is renewed annually, and the RICS will undertake regular reviews for participants to ensure compliance. All commercial lenders now insist that their valuations are carried out only by valuers approved and certificated under the scheme.
